Angel Island
(May 2022)

Date: Sunday May 22, 2022

Difficulty: moderate

Duration: >3h, daylong trip (leaving Berkeley ~8am, returning ~4pm)

We are going to Angel Island, located in the center of the bay with amazing views. We will leave from Berkeley to Tiburon to catch the ferry to go to Angel Island. Because this hike is a little further, please sign up in advance, as early as you can: https://forms.gle/tSsMAipPxH72yAidA

If you need transportation, or if you have a car with empty seats to go from Berkeley to Tiburon, please use the sign up sheet.

We will visit the historical site of the Angel Island Immigration center, sometimes compared to the Ellis Island of the West coast, with a long (and complicated) history, in celebration of the API heritage month.

SCHEDULE: The plan is to take the 10 AM ferry from Tiburon (arriving at 10:12 AM) OR the 9:15 AM ferry from SF (arriving at 9:45 AM). On the way back, you will take the 2:20 PM ferry to Tiburon or 2:10 PM ferry to SF (arriving at 2:40 PM). For the carpoolers, we will meet in downtown Berkeley at 8:30 am, and the estimate is to arrive back in Berkeley at ~ 4 pm.

This hike is organized in collaboration with Berkeley Lab Postdoc Association and the Asian & Pacific Islander (API) Employee Resource Group
